I’m so excited to announce the beginning of the Bright Light Award process. The Bright Light is presented by myself, Creatively Yours Photography, Finders Keepers II, Shasta Hankins, and Jenn Barlos. This award is for a member of the Class of 2014 to provide an amazing senior portrait experience to a deserving senior- whether they are an outstanding student, a leader in their class or community, experiencing a hardship in their life or their family, or simply all around amazing high school student. Seniors can be nominated by a parent, friend, teacher, coach, family member, or anyone that knows them. To nominate a senior simply visit the link below and fill out the short form-

Bright Light Nomination form

The recipient of the award will receive a complimentary senior session, plus 10 digital images from Creatively Yours Photography, a $150 gift certificate from Finders Keepers II, a complimentary haircut and style from Jenn Barlos at Elixir Salon, and a makeup application from Shasta Hankins the day of your session.

Nominations will be accepted through June 15th and the winner will be announced on the blog approximately June 20th.

Whose Got Your Back?

In December Tara won a BFF session for her and her closest friends. It is so fun to celebrate and document life long friendships! There is no on like those special people you can always count on to have your back! We met up to kick off the weekend a few weeks ago for a little photo shoot and then they headed off to lunch, because of course that is what friends do best! With downtown Spokane as our backdrop we set out to create some fun memories for Tara and her friends.

Brown Eyed Girls

It was my extreme pleasure to work with Miss C and Miss C. They had to be some of the best behaved, sweetest little girls I’ve ever gotten to work with. I adored their outfits, paired with the green in the field, and my pink and white checked blanket. When I talked with Mom prior to the session one of the things that she mentioned was that the girls both loved books. When kids are as little as they are (4 and 18 months) I find that having something to help keep them involved is really key. The books and teepee definitely did that for us! I love being able to keep the kids comfortable even when in a new and different setting, adding that one familiar thing (in this case the books) made them feel comfortable and able to relax. When you put all those things together it makes a huge difference and you can see that in the photos. I love tailoring each session to who I am photographing and creating a great memory and experience for each family/individual.

Give Me Some Peanuts and Cracker Jacks

It is the 10th! And, time for another edition of 10 on 10 with my 4 the Love of Focus girls! Each month on the 10th of each month, 10 photographers joined together to post 10 images from our last month. Some photographers chose to document an entire day with 10 photos, others share 10 photos from the past month, some shared all iphone pictures, it didn’t matter it was just us committing to document our lives in more real and definitely more consistent way.

It must be spring… it is time for baseball! I grew up going to my brother’s baseball games each spring. I spent quite a few of those sitting in a car with younger siblings so we didn’t all freeze, or bundled up in winter coats and blankets. So, it is always with a bit of trepidation that I approach baseball season. So far we have played 3 games and we’ve been super lucky- flip flops, sunglasses, and capris have been our baseball attire. It has been wonderful! This is Riley’s first year of coach pitch and it has been so fun seeing his skills grow from game to game. The last game he went 3/3, scored 2x, and made 2 unassisted outs!

Okay, so I know this last one I totally missed focus on him, but have you ever tried to capture a 7 year old determined to score? lol

Libbie’s Prom

I love being able to work with my high school girls to capture their prom pictures. Your prom pictures should be just special and unique as your dress! Why settle for the ordinary when you can something as special as you are! Libbie attends Medical Lake high school. She chose to have her pictures done at Riverfront Park, a classic Spokane icon. It never fails each time I’m in the park I’m amazed by how beautiful it is- the bridges, the water, and of course the carousel!
