Meet Gabrielle!  Her Mom won her a session during my 12 Days of Christmas giveaways this past Christmas.  I loved being able to meet her again.  Her family was actually one of my first clients over 6 years ago!  To say I’ve grown a lot as a photographer would be an understatement.  She has grown almost as much!

Since it was that fabulous time of the year that it mostly gray and yucky we opted for an indoor location.  One of the places I’ve wanted to shoot for some time is the downtown Spokane Library.  Since she is a big book lover it was the perfect spot for her!  With permission obtained we set off to create some beautiful photos of a beautiful girl.

This tween age (10-12) is defined as being “between”; too old to be considered a child, but too young to be considered a teenager.  I can attest from having my own tween at home it is a delicate balancing act.  It is a fun age, but also confusing.  One moment they are playing with toys, the next they are pushing the boundaries of “teen-ness”.  Oh, yes I totally made up a word, but it works for me.  The library worked well for this age, since books can be a consistent throughout life. Yes, what they pick up might be different, but at least at our house, I hope the love affair with books never ends.  I know for me it hasn’t!  I had to control myself not to steal those Nancy Drew’s from Gabrielle and crack one open myself!
