Selective Focus- Bloom 52 {Spokane WA Childrens Photographer

Hooray! I managed to fit in another week participating in the Bloom 52 group! This week’s theme was “selective focus”. What might you ask does this mean? Well, here is how I interpreted it… I had a choice when I shot this image of my cutie. I could have both her and her lolli in focus (and trust me I got lots of those too! 😉 ) or I could creatively interpret what I saw. So with this theme in mind I shot the frame so that the lolli was in focus with her peeking out behind it, slightly out of focus. This technique is used a lot when you want to capture a whole scene, but really want the weight and attention brought to one subject. Next time you watch a tv show if you’re aware you’ll see it all the time! I have started to enjoy and appreciate the art of cinematography so much more in the last few years as I’ve noticed so many of the same principals applied in their field that apply in photography.
Anywhoo… just a my nerdy teacher side coming out. =)

We finally got some nice weather the last few days, and I didn’t have any clients to shoot so I was actually able to take my own kiddos out for a little session of their own. We got lots of fun shots, both pre-lolli and with the lollis! So happy! I’ll be sure to share more later! But for now, here is my selective focus image.

So by now you know the drill… our group has created a circle by clicking the links it will take you all the way around the circle.  Up next is Lynne Demaray, Iowe’s Lifestyle Photographer.
